About the project

The Marine Industry Park forms part of the Northern Marine Complex, a strategic waterfront industrial area at East Arm designed to support marine maintenance, servicing, engineering, fabrication, and logistics within Darwin Harbour.

The precinct has recently been declared a Territory Development Area (TDA) under the Territory Coordinator framework, recognising its significance to the Territory’s economic development and enabling a more coordinated approvals and delivery pathway across government. The TDA designation supports streamlined planning, infrastructure coordination and investment readiness for projects aligned with defence, and commercial and regional marine demand.

Precinct 1 of the Marine Industry Park is progressing with construction underway to deliver 11 serviced industrial lots, supported by enabling works and common-user infrastructure.

Precinct 1 provides serviced waterfront land near the Darwin Ship Lift footprint, supported by common-user facilities including hardstand and marine infrastructure. The Ship Lift is a key enabling project expected to establish Darwin as a major maritime maintenance hub across northern Australia and the Indo-Pacific region.

The precinct is positioned to support defence and commercial fleet demand operating in northern waters, with future planning across additional stages providing a pathway for long-term marine industry growth, shared facilities, and consolidation of marine-related industrial activities.
